The suspense was too much to handle. Student body president, Myla Wolf, aiming for the goal as sweat dripped, runs with the football under her arm dodging other competitors. If you’d like to see more of this imaged play come to life, then Powder Puff is the place to be. Powder Puff is a fun and entertaining experience between senior and junior girls and will take place on September 21, 2022, from 7:30 p.m. -8:30 p.m at Garry Berry Stadium.
Are these players ready for the challenge? Sofia Hegler, junior, and first-time player shared her thoughts on the upcoming game: “I like being a part of the school. It is something to do for homecoming and to show celebration.” Emma Corey, junior and first-time player, stated, “I am excited, I have lots of friends doing it so it should be lots of fun.”
Not only is Powder Puff a time for the girls to shine, but it is also a time for the boys to show their leadership in coaching. During Powder Puff, senior and junior football players will do their part by coaching from the sidelines and practice fields. Jacob Pivonka, senior and coach of Powder Puff, shared, “ I’m extremely ecstatic this year: everybody having fun, and mainly the seniors dominating the juniors.” Natalie Galindo, junior player, added, “I think that all the hard work put in is good, and they play football, so they use it to their advantage.”
Additionally, the game is a fun swap between players and cheerleaders that has many highlights for those who enjoy football. Natalie Galindo, an organizer for Powder Puff, gave her opinion on what the highlights are for the game: “The cheerleaders . . .are great highlights. Everyone comes to see them, and it is super entertaining. The competitiveness between the seniors and juniors is great as well.”
