Coronado is offering new in-school therapy by Diversus Mental Health. The program is for kids who are struggling academically and personally. The program is also for kids who don’t have support at home to get help. The coordinator of the program is Vanessa Vatalaro, our head of counseling.
This will all take place in the counseling office. When interviewed, Mr. Mann, the sophomore class counselor, explained why the counselor decided to do this program now:“I was working at Mitchell last year and they had Diversus health therapy so I thought I’d bring it over because I noticed a lot of kids struggling.” He also stated that “We had another provider before, but it didn’t work out so well.”
The program is at maximum capacity with 7 kids. With that being said, Mr. Mann stated that if the school continues to get referrals, then it’s a good possibility that the school could have more kids join the program.
