Senior Information for the Final days
April 27, 2023
We’re down to our last month seniors but even though we’re down to our last month, we still have a lot to do to prepare for graduation. The month of May for seniors is going to be packed with events like prom, finals, the last day, senior walk, Senior barbeque, and Senior awards. and we cannot forget graduation!
The first thing on the very long bucket list to do is prom, which will be held at UCCS in Berger Hall from 8-11 p.m. and the after party will also be at UCCS from 11-2 a.m. The after-prom will be at the UCCS rec center where the swimming pools, gym, etc. will be opened. When interviewing Mrs. Arnell, assistant principal, she explained that “Prom is one of the last times seniors can enjoy their high school career and just be a teenager before you go off into the real world. So, enjoy it and be safe.”
After prom, seniors have to take their finals which are on Friday, May 12th periods 5-8 and Tuesday, May 16th which are periods 1-4. Mr. Hartman, English teacher; said, “Don’t give up, it may seem hard and tiring right now but that’s life. You cannot give up every time something gets even a little bit hard. So, push through and do well on your finals, and then you’re done.”
Next on the agenda are the senior walk, barbeque, and yearbook signing, and the senior awards all in one day. First, the Senior walk is only for the students who signed up for it, which will be from 9-11 a.m. Immediately following the senior walk will be the Senior barbeque and yearbook signing from 11 – 1 p.m. out on the baseball field, but if the weather changes for any given reason, the barbeque will be moved indoors to the gym. Finally, after a very long day, the seniors have their awards ceremony will be in the auditorium from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. The awards ceremony will be invite-only.
The last event and probably the most exciting thing on the list is graduation! Graduation will be on May 23rd at the Broadmoor World Arena from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. That is when the ceremony officially starts but Seniors have to be there by 7 a.m. to rehearse. The seniors will be entering through Gate A while all the guests will be entering through Gate Band C. Then that’s it seniors, we are done! Like Mrs. Arnell said, “Have fun, live it up and after graduation when you all go your own ways, that just gives you more of an opportunity to find who you are in society, meet new people, go new places and try new things because you’ve worked 13 years for this. You deserve it!”
