Boys Cross Country at Coronado High School has had a strong start to their season, from club team practice over the summer to winning the Arapahoe Invite on August 29, where Oliver Horton, Class of 2027, beat the course record and got first place. The team is looking forward to going far this season.
Top runners Xzavier Campos, Class of 2o26, and Horton led the team, while veteran teammate and captain John Stanczak, Class of 2026, provided crucial support. Campos, who placed second place during the Arapahoe invite, states that “the Cougars focused on pushing each other to the next level and winning as a team rather than chasing individual times,” a strategy that keeps their bond strong. That close-knit atmosphere is more than just morale-boosting. “The team is like a family,” added Stanczak.
During preseason and throughout this fall season, Coronado aims for a strong showing at the state championship and ultimately a position at Nike Cross Country Nationals, with their shared commitment and unity fueling their ambitions.
