Matt Olson’s Fund
March 3, 2016
Matt Olson, 20 year old defenseman for the Chicago Cougars suffered serious injuries during a hockey game resulting in permanent damage to his spine, causing him to be paralyzed below the shoulders. He is a friend to many and longtime volunteer in the community working on his dream of making a spot on a college roster for hockey and being the co-captain of his team, even with this life changing injury, he hopes to keep moving forward.
Ms. Watson, an English teacher here at Coronado and family friend of the Olson’s, feels that Coronado can help Matt through this life changing moment by giving them our support and donating to his fund.
The family hopes to raise money for a procedure that can help Olson make a major recovery and they are trying to raise the money through gofundme.com. They need to raise $500,000 in order to pay for the procedure and many donors, from teammates and friends to complete strangers, have donated and as of March 1, 2016 they have raised $77,958 and growing. If you would like to contribute go to https://www.gofundme.com/mattolson-3. Matt’s friends and family thank you for your support.
