One of the most eventful days of the year is almost on your doorstep: Halloween. Even though the beloved holiday is on a Monday night this year, the Halloween weekend can be made into an epic movie marathon with the best, worst, and in between horrible and amazing Halloween movies.

  1. The Shining: Jack Torrance becomes groundskeeper for the Overlook Hotel in Colorado, hoping to cure his writer’s block. He brings his son, Danny, along with his wife, Wendy, to stay with him in the hotel for the winter. As Jack’s writing goes nowhere Danny’s begins to have visions of the hotels past, and through the film they become more disturbing, Jack discovers the sinister secrets of the hotel and begins to adapt the persona of a homicidal maniac set murdering his family.
  1. The Exorcist: When Regan, a young girl starts acting bizarre, her father calls in young priest Father Karras, who becomes convinced that the girl is possessed the Devil and that they must call in anexorcist: namely, Father Merrin.
  1. Nightmare on Elm Street: A few teenagers fall victim to Freddy Krueger a midnight attacker who stalks the dreams of kids. After investigating the abnormalities, Nancy begins tosuspect that there is a secret kept by her and her friends’ parents that may be the key to solving the mystery of Freddy Krueger.
  1. Halloween: OnHalloween night of 1963, Michael Myers stabs his sister Judith to death with a kitchen knife. Fifteen years later, the day before Halloween, he escapes from Smith’s Grove Sanitarium in a car that was to take him to the verdict of which was for him to be held in jail for life.

Thing go awry when the dog starts attacking humans and other dogs at the camp. As the attacks get more violent, the researchers discover that the “thing” can assume the shape of its victims.

 

  1. The Ring: The movie starts out with what seems like a mere “urban legend” turns very real when a tape releases an evil presence on whoever watches it. If the is seen, the viewer will receive a call foretelling their death in 7 days.

 

  1. The Omen: American diplomat Robert adopts Damien after his wife, Katherine delivers a stillborn child. After Damien’s first nanny hangs herself, Father Brennan warns Robert that Damien will kill Katherine’s unborn child. Shortly thereafter Katherine miscarries when Damien pushes her off a balcony, and father Brennan dies. As more people around Damien die, Robert investigates Damien’s background and realizes his adopted son may be the Antichrist.

 

  1. Silence of the Lambs: Jodie Foster stars as Clarice Starling, a top student at the FBI’s training academy. Jack Crawford wants Clarice to interview Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a brilliant psychiatrist who is also a violent psychopath, serving life behind bars for various acts of murder and cannib Crawford believes that Lecter may have insight into a case and that Starling, as an attractive young woman, may be just the bait to draw him out.

Invited to the prom by the empathetic Tommy Ross, Carrie tries to let her guard down, but things eventually take a dark and violent turn.

When Pat reaches her apartment, she is murdered. The next day, Suzy is admitted to her new school, but has a difficult time settling in. She hears noises, and often feels ill. As more people die, Suzy uncovers the terrifying secret history of the school.

 

  1. Audition: This disturbing Japanese thriller follows Aoyama, a widower who decides to start dating again. Aided by a film-producer friend, Aoyama uses auditions for a fake production to function as a dating service. When Aoyama becomes intrigued by the withdrawn, gorgeous Asami, they begin a relationship. However, he begins to realize that Asami isn’t as reserved as she appears to be, leading to gradually increased tension and a harrowing climax.

  1. Evil Dead 2: Part horror, part comedy, with Ash Williams once again battling horrifying demons at a secluded cabin in the woods. After discovering an audiotape left by a college professor that contains voices reading from the Book of the Dead,Ash’s girlfriend Linda becomes possessed by evil spirits that are awakened by the voices on the tape. Ash soon discovers there is no escaping the woods.

 

  1. Shaun of the Dead: When Shaun is not working at the electronics store, he lives with his best friend, Ed, in a small flat on the outskirts of London. The only unpredictable element in his life is his girlfriend, Liz who wishes desperately for Shaun to grow up. When the town is inexplicably overrun with zombies, Shaun must rise to the occasion and protect both Liz and his mother.
