On Thursday, October 20 at 7 PM, men’s varsity soccer team defeated the Rampart Rams by a score of 2-0.  

The two winning goals were scored by Joey Callan, 12, and Hayden Field, 10; Joey would later be named player of the game for his contributions to the making of both goals. In addition, Gavin Rusky, the goalie for the team, had seven saves.

“I think a big part of us scoring those two goals was teamwork. We just didn’t want the season to end, so we pushed to our absolute best. Our win against Rampart was pretty cool. I have been on varsity since freshmen year, and we hadn’t beat a district 20 school in all that time. It was especially awesome considering it was my last game” Joey Callan, 12.

Unfortunately, the game at Rampart Thursday was the last one of the season, but it was a league game and a significant victory for Coronado, bringing their season record to 5-10.

“It has been four years since we have beat a District 20 school -Rampart- , especially since they are ranked way higher than than us”,  said Mr. Dosch, coach of the varsity team and resident Coronado science teacher.
