On 12/13, the Coronado Boys’ Varsity Basketball team clashed against Bear Creek in an intense game that unfortunately ended as another loss for the Cougars with a tight score of 46-49. It was an energetic night that ended in a tough loss for the Cougars as Coronado was ahead in points until the final quarter.

“I think this was a game we could have easily won, but I don’t think we brought our best. I think we were tired, and I think we slacked off a little. It would have been really good if we won this game too, because good stats are always helpful. We are improving and we are doing better this season, but I think we should have won that game,” said Raiden Mares, 12.

Juniors Ashton Rogers and Jareth Morey lead the team in scoring, with a combined 27 points, 17 for Rogers and 10 for Morey, 6 of which were free throws. Senior Joey Callan followed with 6 points.

“It’s disappointing and irritating, but the game is also an eye opener and I think it’s a stepping-stone for our season. We still definitely should have won that game though. I don’t think we put emotion into it, I think we game out tired and we played slow,” said Joey Callan, 12.

Even though the night had a disappointing ending, the Cougars are ready for their next game, tonight, 12/14 against Air Academy.
