After the stress of finals is finally over and break has begun, there are plenty of holiday activities and events around Colorado Springs to enjoy with family or relatives. From concerts, to hikes, to the top of Pikes Peak, there are plenty of options for a merry day.

Acoustic Eidolon Concert

When: December 4th and 18th at 4 and 7 P.M.

What: Hannah and Joe Scott perform various Latin, Folk, World, and Celtic music in the Great Hall of Glen Eyrie.

Cost: $29 for general seating, $39 for the first four rows.

Cheyenne Mountain Zoo’s Electric Safari

When: December 9-23 and December 25-31 5:30-8:30PM.

What: Bundle up and see over 80 holiday light sculptures at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo on December nights. As well as that, get a great view of the city lights from up on the hill.

Cost: $9.75 adults; $8.75 seniors 65+; $6.75 children 3-11; FREE children 2 and under; $5.25 military.

Christmas Symphony

When: December 18th at 2:30

What: Enjoy classic Christmas songs at the Colorado Springs Philharmonic’s Christmas Symphony, including carols and songs from the Polar Express.

Cost: $21-$64

 

Fountain Creek Nature Center Hikes and Wagon Rides:

When: December 10th and 17th. Hikes from 10-11:30 AM. Wagon rides at 11:30 AM, noon, and 12:30 P.M.

Cost: $3 for members, $4 for non-members $7. Enjoy a snowy hike with Santa, participate in snowflake crafts, and

horse drawn wagon rides at Fountain Creek Nature Center. Note that reservations are required.

Giant Gingerbread Houses at the Broadmoor:

What: See the work of 14 chefs over the course of 226 hours at the top of the main escalator at the Broadmoor. Themed as the Pikes Peak Cog Railway Steam Engine’s 125th anniversary, Come check out the sweet display!

Kwanzaa Celebration:

When: December 26th at the Carnegie Room at Penrose Library  6-7, and December 31st at the Hillside Community Center 12-4PM.

Cost: Free.

What: Come celebrate the values, history, culture, philosophy, and achievements and see the Denver and Colorado African drumming and dance groups perform on two afternoons in December.

North Pole

When: Through December 25th excluding Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10 AM-5PM.

Cost: $22 a person.

What: Head up to Woodland Park to get in the holiday spirit at the North Pole Colorado for a fun day filled with Christmas themed rides. As, well as that, you can see santa or even feed llamas and goats at Santa’s Workshop.

The Pikes Peak Cog Railway Santa Claus Train

When: December 17-24, departure times vary.

Cost: $25 a person.

What: Head to Manitou for a trip to the top of Pikes Peak via the highest cog railway in the world, infused with holiday music and activities as well as Santa and elves.

Skate in the Park

When: November 18, 2016-January 16, 2017.

Cost: $10 includes skates; Under 4 years old free with paying adult.

What: Go skate outside in one of Colorado Springs’ only outdoor skating rinks downtown at Acacia Park.
