The Flat Earth Theory

Roman Sorrels, Staff Writer

I, Roman Sorrels, personally do not believe that the Flat Earth Theory is true. However, I find that the theory is an interesting concept to consider and explore, especially when combined with the popular culture and history behind it.

Copernicus convinced the world that the Earth was at the center of the universe, then science proved that the earth was a sphere. But throughout history, science has changed and how we think of the universe has changed with it. According to Flat-Earthers, our planet is a disk, flying upwards through space, ever increasing in speed, causing gravity through momentum, just like when feel yourself being pulled down in an elevator, only on a massive scale. Surrounding the edge of the Earth is a giant naturally formed wall, Antarctica, patrolled by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and much of the U.S. government. Whilst the Sun and Moon, being very close if not equal in size, rotate around the Earth continuously, the other planets inside and outside of our solar system are fictional under the Flat Earth Theory. The disk,Earth, is only 25 miles thick, the same thickness as what most scientists believe the crust of the planet is. Whenever you’re in planes and you think you see the ”curvature” of the Earth what you’re really seeing is a screen, just like a phone or TV; the pilots themselves are unaware that their profession is made up flying in a big circle. Solar Eclipses are also nothing but projections in the sky attempting to deceive humanity. But why? Why hide all of this, what is on the other side of the disk flying through space? We don’t know but hopefully, we will be able to find out in the near future.

The rise of popularity of a Flat Earth can be credited to athletes and celebrities publicly announcing their belief, including Shaquille O’neal, B.O.B. and Kyrie Irving. One of the craziest parts of this theory is the argument against it. An anonymous source says “[they] can’t prove [the flat earth] doesn’t exist” therefore it is theoretically possible that a flat earth does exist. Well, the theory has been met with a fair share of skepticism, accompanied with evidence to prove that the earth is round. Most point to photos of the Earth, seeing the curvature of the Earth, or the solar eclipse. But all of that evidence can be rebuked by NASA and fake projection theories, such as those mentioned earlier.

So get out there and see all those NASA projections, and fake maps in all your classrooms, or maybe check out some photo shopped pictures of the fake solar eclipse that everybody stood outside watching.
