Shoot for the Stars With the Astronomy Club!

Riley Burgess, Staff Writer

Star Gazers and Space Watchers, Coronado is expanding our cosmic horizon with an all new astronomy club. Every Wednesday morning from 7:30 to 8:30 am and every Thursday after school, club attendees explore the reaches of the universe by discussing and discovering the study of astronomy. The club will be hosting star parties and partnering with the Colorado Springs Astronomical Society to bring hands-on experience to Coronado and helping each other learn the history and complexities of mapping the sky.

Ms. Escobar, supervisor of the club, said, “One of the benefits of having an astronomy club at the school, is that it’s a great way to learn about the subject and a great way to engage the students in astronomy activities, especially for those students that don’t have the opportunity to be in the astronomy class, so that everyone who has an interest in it can learn with us, through study and discussion.”

Members of the astronomy club are learning how to operate telescopes, find stars, constellations, and planets, and putting together a theoretical space mission.

Join others who have a passion for the cosmos, in room 109 on Wednesday mornings and Thursdays after school.
