Coronado varsity baseball played two games last week, one at Rampart and another at Palmer, losing both, but this week they pulled a major win against Palmer on Tuesday.

Coronado lost against Rampart, 9 to 4, on Thursday, 4/26. The only run batted in was from Ashton Rogers, 27.  Parker Martin, 17, managed to hit an impressive 2 times out of his 3 plate appearances. The team finished the game with 6 hits, for a batting average of .214. The two pitchers, Corey Merritt, 19, and Tucker Travins, 21, had a combined Earned Run Average of 5.83, with Merritt pitching for 2 innings, and Travins for 4. The fielders overall managed to put out 18 times, with Bryce McKee, 12, managing to get 5 outs throughout the game.

Coronado lost again to Palmer, 5 to 3, on Saturday, 4/28. This time the team got three bats in, one from N. Papenfuss, 1, and two from Parker Martin, 17. Six hits were made overall, giving the team an average of .231 for the game. Pitchers Issiah Sisneros, 13, and Beau Chauvin, 24, both had a combined Earned Run Average of 3.5. Sisneros played 5 innings, while Chauvin played 1. The fielders put out 18 times again, with Parker Martin, 17, putting out 5 times.

The baseball team pulled out a huge win against Palmer, 19-4, on Tuesday, 5/3. 16 runs were batted in over the course of the game, with both Bryce McKee, 12, and Beau Chauvin, 24, hitting 3 out of 4 plate appearances. The team had a good batting average of .593. No fielding stats were entered for this game, but the score shows that the Cougars managed plenty of putouts to keep Palmer’s score low. The team definitely has something to be proud of for this win.

The next game is on Thursday, 5/3, at Fountain-Fort Carson. Congratulations to the team for their win!
