The Coronado Volleyball team Starts the Season on a High Note

The Young Cougars Pick Up the Winning Spirit Left by Graduated Seniors.

The Cougars celebrate after winning both matches in straight sets.

Just three weeks into the school year, the Coronado Volleyball Team is picking up right where they left off last year with a win in straight sets against Pueblo County (25-18, 25-22, 25-17). The young Cougar team is not concerned with the amount of starting seniors they lost from last year, with only one starter returning from last year, senior Lacey Redinger. After the game we talked to star striker and captain, Lacey Redinger. When we asked her what her team goals are this year she quickly responded: “To go to state.” If this young Cougar team can make it to state, that will be an astonishing 8 straight state qualifying years for Coronado Volleyball. Lacey is as confident as ever in her team saying, “We have shown the ability to learn as a team and be creative because we are young and short.” The inexperience and lack of height is something new to this volleyball team after leaning on there height and experience last year, which lead them to state playoffs. The new, young faces on the Coronado volleyball team look to rise to the occasion and help this team compete, led by Lacey Redinger. Make sure you check out the new look Cougars on September 13th for their home opener!
