Boys Golf Places 10th at state!
October 8, 2018
The Coronado boys golf team took 10th place as a team this past week. The tournament was held at Flying Horse golf course, which is one of the nicer courses in Colorado. The Cougars have had a great season leading up to this tough tournament; placing 10th out of roughly 40 teams is no easy feat for such a young team. Head coach Rick Rienks was very proud of his team’s performance: “I was pleased with our overall performance at State. While our players felt that they could have played better, we also realized that we were a young team, and that we had accomplished much by winning our region and advancing our team to State. I feel that we competed hard and that we gave a good showing at the state tournament. I am very proud of them.”
For this team being so young it should get the Coronado community excited about what this golf team can do in the coming years. “I believe that we will be very good next year. I feel, if we continue to work hard and improve, that we can be a real tough team in both regular season tournaments and in the state tournament next year. We have had a taste of State, and we recognize what needs to be done to compete for a championship. I feel that this group has the drive and determination to do that!” Rick Rienks sees a very bright future for his years to come.
