The Benefits of Yoga in Our Daily Lives

Stress. Anxiety. Overwhelment.

We all have them in our lives. But what to do with them?

Although there’s no way to fully delete these from our lives, there are ways to limit them within our day to day lives. One of these ways is yoga. Yoga is a great way to relieve stress and clear your mind.

Sophomore (1oth grade) Sophia Hegler speaks on her experiences with yoga. She notices a more focused mindset and less stress on days she has yoga. She states, “I like yoga because it’s a slower workout” and, “I feel like it helps engage more muscles.”

Yoga originated over 5,000 years ago. The word yoga was first mentioned in an ancient sacred text called the Rig Veda.

A number of scientific studies have shown that yoga has great potential for reducing stress and anxiety. One in every three Americans have tried yoga at least once within their lives, for one reason or another. Continuously stretching and incorporating muscles into a gentle workout can be beneficial, not only to your mental health, but to your physical health as well.

Taking even the smallest amount of time every day to meditate and stretch can greatly benefit your mental mindset. It only takes YOU and YOUR mental mindset to make a change in your life. By taking the time to truly understand yourself, both mentally and physically, you can drastically improve your life.

Along with relieving stress and anxiety, yoga can improve strength, balance, and flexibility. By utilizing yoga in your daily routine, you can also improve your time management skills. Fitting it into a busy schedule can give you the skills you need to efficiently manage your time.
