This past Wednesday, our staff welcomed middle school students from around the Springs to our campus, hoping to attract the incoming freshmen. Students and parents took tours through the campus and visited booths for various clubs and sports, giving the opportunity to show off the best Coronado has to offer.
The open house kicked off with Coronado’s Jazz Band playing some incredible pieces in the auditorium to show off our arts programs. Students welcomed guests and the prospective families met counselors and other staff members. After introductions, tours were given around the campus and students could explore the school’s different programs in the gymnasium.
“Families really like to go on the tour. They are able to see firsthand what we have to offer,” Ms. Diane Summers, counselor of the class of 2025/2026, stated in an interview before the event. Ms. Summers also managed the event, with the intent to “showcase and highlight all of the wonderful programs, clubs, sports, and departments at Coronado.”
“(The open house) made me aware of a lot of clubs if not classes I wanted to take,” Stephen Meyers, junior, weighed in on the event as well, saying it helped him become more involved in the school and its events as he worked with the Swim and Dive booth in the gym. Many students were engaged in the event and enjoyed seeing what Coronado had to offer in terms of extracurriculars and academic courses.
