Coronado High School implemented a new class to help students finish graduation tasks and get connected with colleges and careers, while getting students closer to their goals for graduation and beyond. Though some students may not understand the full effect of the class and feel that it is not productive, others understand the vision but would like to see more come from it.
Justus Schnakenberg, Class of 2026, stated “I think it helps students navigate how to get in contact with colleges and get tasks done, but I’d like more from it.”
As the new class was put into place, students wondered if Future Ready was the same as the old Edge classes, but Mr. Baldwin, Coronado Vice Principal, assured that “while Edge was also considered a college readiness class, Future Ready was reformed from the old Edge class into a more beneficial course that was more time considerate.” The goal Coronado staff strives for is getting students the resources they need, whether their path is or isn’t college, while making it a worthwhile use of our time on Mondays.
