On August 29, 2025, Coronado’s boys’ cross country dominated at the Arapahoe Warriors Invitational in Littleton, Colorado. During this meet, Oliver Horton, Class of 2027, broke the course record by a whopping 25 seconds and won the individual race. This is only the most recent of the several records Oliver has broken, including all of those set by previous Coronado runners.
Oliver has been running for Coronado since his freshman year, but Lisa Rainsberger, head cross country coach, has been training Oliver since he was nine years old. When asked about future races, Rainsberger stated, “Every course is different, so we focus on him becoming a better version of himself every time he races.” The season is still early, so Coach Rainsberger is excited to see Oliver and the team continue to improve.
The previous course record was held by Cerake Geberkidane back in the early 2010s, but Oliver claimed, “It wasn’t a hard record, but I broke it by a lot, so I was pretty happy.” Oliver and his team continue to train over the next couple months to dominate in their upcoming meets; the next one being Saturday, September 20, at Monument Valley North.
