The Cougars squared off against Lewis Palmer on 3/29.

On the crowded bus to LaJunta at 6AM for a Friday track meet, Emily Ambuul, 12, was all smiles about the soccer team’s win over League rival Palmer on Thursday night.
Midway into the first half, Emily scored her first goal with a lofty assist from Reneé Alvarado, 12, setting the score at 1-0. Ambuul later told Alvarado it was “the kind of pass you dream about.” The Cougars continued to play well.

One more goal was all the Cougars would need to put Palmer away for good. Kaylee Uebel, 12, provided that.

The second half saw Palmer try to get themselves back in the game, but they couldn’t keep up. Ambuul had five total shots on goal and two of them found the back of the net, one in each half, her second was the nail in the coffin during the second half.

Come support the Cougars on Saturday, as they face Pueblo South at Grace Stadium.

As for Ambuul and double teammate Isabella Janney, 9, sleepily sitting across the aisle from her, let’s hope they get some sleep on the bus.
