Your Ultimate Holiday Playlist

It’s that time again, the time of deliberately horrible sweaters, nasty fruit cake and holiday music. Holiday music has been a tradition since for forever, some for Christmas, Hanukkah, and others for the time of year in general. There have been some good tunes over the years, but some songs really stand out from the rest. Here are the top ten best holiday songs to be listening to this winter season.

1. “Last Christmas,” by Wham
Wham’s “Last Christmas” is a great example of how Christmas has come so far from its religious roots to become a day celebrated by a whole lotta people.

2. “Jingle Bell Rock,” by Bobby Helms
There’s no reason not to pick “Jingle Bell rock,” it’s one of those holiday songs that have been in nearly every Christmas movie ever, so it’s almost impossible to avoid, so why fight it?

3. “Feliz Navidad,” by Jose Feliciano
“Feliz Navidad” is a song many have listened to every Christmas it has that foreign charm everyone so desperately craves.

4. “Where Are You Christmas?” By Faith Hill
If this song is familiar than you’ve probably heard it from the live action Jim Carrey remake of How The Grinch Stole Christmas. So listen to this sweet medley as you wonder when Christmas is coming for you!

5. “Christmas Canon,” by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra
This song is very calming for a song with canon in the title. The soothing voices of the Trans-Siberian orchestra almost lull people into sleep.

6. “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” by Brenda Lee
This song is a lot like Jingle Bell Rock in that people have probably heard it in a Christmas movie and it is just so much fun to rock out to.

7. “Mistletoe,” by Justin Bieber
The jury is out on Justin Bieber, but this song is pretty good, it sounds so familiar yet stays so fresh for a five year old song.

8. “Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24),” by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra
This song exudes a very different tone than your typical carols, it sounds like music that would play during a Christmas themed superhero fight, epic and awesome, so it’s a nice change from the typical monotone carol.

9. “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” By Kristen Bell, Agatha Lee Monn & Katie Lopez
Just one word need be said about this song, FROZEN! Although it’s not quite as popular as “Let It Go” it’s still just as catchy and fun to sing.

10. “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” by Mariah Carey
This song has been played by nearly every single band in existence and each rendition is better than the last. There’s a version for everybody, be sure to add it if you hear it to your playlist.

While listening to these sweet tunes, be sure to get out to celebrate the holidays with your loved ones. As always, have yourself some happy holidays from everybody at the Cougar Daily.
