It’s Not Hard to be a Good Fan: Fan Etiquette at CHS

Step 1: cheer like this guy.

Step 1: cheer like this guy.

Nobody likes a poor sport even if you’re a spectator! Here are a few reminders on how to not be “that guy”

Step 1: Cheer for Your Team, Not Against Others

Don’t be rude and “boo” at the opposing team. It only makes the other team upset and makes you look like a schmuck. Be nice and make some noise for your team only.

Step 2: Buy your Merch

Show your pride! A fraction of the money goes to the team to help pay for new uniforms or other needed equipment, not to mention, you’re going to look great in red and gold!

Step 3: Respect Your Team Players

This one is pretty prominent. We get it, sometimes a player on your team messes up unfavorably and all you want to do is yell at them even if they can’t hear you. However, being ill-mannered won’t help anything. Respect all players and their effort, they are working hard to represent Coronado and you!

Step 4: Arrive on Time and Leave Late

Showing up late to a game is rude and disruptive. Be on time and cheer throughout, that way you know exactly what is going on and have no chance of missing an awesome play! Staying late there’s probably a chance congratulate the team personally.

Step 5: Never be a Sore Loser

Teams win and they lose. It’s our job as fans to understand that a team can’t win every game. Win or lose just cheer loudly and have a good time. Forgetting your morality at a sports not only reflects poorly on Coronado, but on you too.

Sports are a very important part of any culture and they bring people together. Stay hydrated, bring positive energy, and follow these steps to become an amazing fan instead of being “that guy.”
