Last Tuesday, 9/13, the Coronado Cougars bested the Palmer Terrors in tennis, 6-1. This is the 6th consecutive duel win for the cougars, who are currently undefeated. Not only are they undefeated in duel meets however, they have only lost two of the individual matches at each meet. Considering there are 7 matches at every meet, that’s quite an impressive feat; the team has lost only 2 out of 42 matches all season.

Clearly, the Cougars have demonstrated considerable prowess on the court, and the Palmer meet was no exception. “The Palmer match went really well” said head coach Mr. Philipsen of the meet, adding, “We beat them 6-1 which in my 3 years that’s the biggest [margin] we’ve ever beaten Palmer. My first year we lost to Palmer 3-4, last year we beat them 5-2, this year we beat them 6-1, so that felt good to keep getting a step up on them.” Of the one match they lost, he pointed out that it “was in 3 sets and we had a sub in” adding, “I do think if we had everybody healthy it probably would have been a 7-0 match… knowing that feels good that we’re at that level compared to other teams in CSML this year.” So far, it seems as though Coronado has been gaining momentum and are on the way to a phenomenal season.
