Coronado High School’s #1 singles player, Saturn Phelps, is going to the intense tie breaker after a neck-to-neck match. By the time the final tiebreaker echoed across the court, Saturn finished with an 11-6 victory, a win that perfectly shows the attitude of the 2026 Coronado tennis season.
As the program’s top seed and team captain, Saturn represents the team; she faces the best player from every opposing school while also trying to elevate a sport that often goes overlooked and support her teammates. Under the guidance of Coach Larkin, Saturn has spent the season transforming from a team member into a leader. “I’ve personally improved during this season by definitely learning how to be coached and learning how to adapt during matches,” she noted, highlighting the expectations to hold the #1 singles slot.
Coach Larkin also shares that “Saturn is such a great leader on the team. We love having her here to support the girls.” However, this team isn’t just built on rallies and match points. For Saturn, the team and relationships built were what made the team so great to play for.

Whether it’s meeting new players or jokes in between matches, a memorable afternoon hiding in the halls of Lewis-Palmer High School, or doing henna, she believes the team’s chemistry is their secret weapon for the upcoming year.
All of the new girls have really made this season one of the most memorable so far,” she said. “I especially adore those one-on-one moments with everyone on the team.” As the 2026 season comes to an end, the focus is already on next year. With a captain who focuses on improving every day and a roster more connected than ever, the Coronado girls’ tennis team is hoping to see the program continue to grow and persevere.
