On February 23, at Memorial Park located in Downtown Colorado Springs, the well-known Vert Ramp was torn down due to safety reasons, and with this many skaters are sad to see it go.
It was installed in July of 2012, making it 14 years old, and it being made of wood makes it more susceptible to damage over the years. Chris Patten, expert skater and partner designer in the ramp, states that “it was getting holes in it and rusty screws that were pretty dangerous.”
Patten added that the ramp being torn down “was the end of an era.” With the ramp gone, it brings an end to multiple experiences and memories for many skaters alike.
