History repeated itself on 10/13 when men’s varsity football put up a big fight against Vista Ridge but unfortunately lost. The last time the two teams met, Coronado lost 28-6 and this time around, they had a similar outcome. Unlike last time around though, our offense was able to power through and score us more than twice as many points than last time for the team. In the first half of the game the defense struggled to hold their place leaving the Cougars down 0-21, but during the second half, the offense stepped up their game bring the score up to 14.

During the second half of the game, Troy Renner was able to intercept the ball from Vista Ridge with a 55 yard return earning the first score of the game for the Cougars. Then with just six minutes to go, Troy Renner scores a 3 yard rushing touchdown, bringing up our score count to a respectable 13. Overall, the game came to a close with a 35-14 loss, dropping Coronado’s overall record to 3-4 and Vista Ridge’s to 4-3. While the game against Vista Ridge didn’t go as well as hoped for, everyone still has their spirits high as the season starts to finish up with three games left.
