What do you think it takes to stay relevant and popular? Are there any musicians you think will remain popular in years to come? Which currently famous ones do you think will be forgotten in a few years?

When we think of bands and musicians that will go down in history, we think of our parents’ and even our grandparents’ favorite music. Music we’ve all come to know like The Beatles or Nirvana that are still so relevant to us despite being popular thirty to fifty years ago! What music do you think we will pass on to our children?

According to Business Insider, the most popular musicians of 2018 so far are Taylor Swift, Eminem, The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar, Ed Sheeran, J. Cole, XXXTentacion (Rest in Peace), Migos, Drake, and Post Malone. Which of these musicians has a voice that will speak to future generations? How do you think music differs today? When asked some of these questions, Jillian Hixenbaugh, (9) said that she prefers older music (90s and 2000s) but likes a lot of chill lofi too. It’s all really a matter of preference when it comes to music but often there’s a common artist that defines a generation. What’s ours? What’s yours?
