Looks Like Football is Back!

Looks like football is making a comeback! After CHSSA’s multiple meetings about the sports schedule being changed for this year due to coronavirus football was originally supposed to be played in spring yet after many states open the football season for fall (like usual) CHSSA has decided to start the season with most games starting Oct 9.
Due to CHSSA’s decision 218 high school football teams will start there fall football season, including Coronado. Many people have mixed feelings on CHSSA’s conclusion to re-open the season. I have talked to many different players some from Palmer Ridge football team (defending 3A state champions), Vista Ridge and Pine Creek (defending 4A state Champions)
After talking to them 2 sides of an argument arose. One side was upset that the season was to resume with such short notice for those who had already been training and prepping for the spring season originally planned. The other side was very excited about the season starting up due to the fact that they get to play the sport they love. A point also came up about seniors who are looking for a football scholarship to play at the next level in college. If Colorado was not to play this fall almost all those scholarships will be given to kids in other states that are playing football in the fall.
But overall, I am sure most people are excited to have high school football back this year. I can’t wait for some normality in schools with the homecoming football game and those fun Friday nights with friends.
But no matter how far you look into it and how many opinions you view at the end of the day CHSSA has made the decision to have the football season be in fall for the 2020-2021 season and the Coronado Cougars team will participate.
So, make sure you are out there supporting the team this year starting the 9th as the Cougars travel to take on Fountain Fort Carson!
