ThesCon is an opportunity for thousands of theater students across Colorado to practice and gain new skills to help pursue their future goals. This event will be taking place at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado from December 7th to December 9th. The convention offers live performances, panels, auditions, and workshops consisting of performance and technical skills.
Meeting new people with a love for theatrics is a major part of ThesCon. Actors get to work with other actors on teamwork and a variety of workshops, and spending more time with the actors they already know strengthens friendships and creates unforgettable memories.
Not only do young actors get to meet peers with the same interests, ThesCon offers scholarships and recruiting opportunities. Last year’s convention offered a total of four million dollars in scholarships.
Every year, critics choose a school production to perform for all the participants. Vista Ridge High School’s production of Mean Girls the Musical was chosen to be the mainstage production for ThesCon. The cast originally performed the musical from October 26th to October 28th.
One of the participants going to Thescon is Evie Kelley, Class of 2024. Ms. Kelley has been to ThesCon numerous times, and she has much experience with theater. The following quote describes her experience going to ThesCon. “Thescon is a super fast-paced theatre environment with many opportunities to learn from professionals who have been in the theatre field for years. It opens lots of doors for young performers and it’s super fun to experience with other theatre students! You get to meet lots of other kids who are passionate about the performing arts and make connections and memories to last for years!”
