On Friday, Oct 10, the Cougars participated in the Doherty Spartan Invitational Cross Country race, with both the Girls Varsity and JV teams coming in 1st place; the boys Varsity team did very well coming 4th place overall. Boys JV team came in 2nd place. The girls varsity team had many top finishers, Chloe Cassens, 10, came in 3rd place with a time of 20:04. Taylor Dutton, 9, and Madeline Morland finished together in a time of 20:11, with Dutton getting a half-step advantage at the end for 4th place, Morland was 5th. Faith Roth, 9, came on their heels and finished in 6th place with a time of 20:15.

Girls JV also had 6 finishers in the top 10. Layla Roebke, 9, finished in 2nd place with an overall time of 21:50. Isabella Janney, 9, came in 3rd place finishing with a time of 22:14. Hannah Besse, 10, and Shauna Mackay, 9, finished in 5th and 6th places with times 22:54 and 22:58. Jackie Godec, 11, finished in 7th place with a time of 22:58. Alese Abita  finished in 9th place with a time of 23:21.

The boy’s teams also did very well with the JV team finishing in 2nd place overall. Daniel Roth, 11, finished in first place with a time of 18:14. Mac Roberts, 9, finished in 4th place with a time of 18:22.

The boys Varsity team came in 4th place overall. Nicholas Vai, 12, was a top finisher in the race, finishing in 13th place with a time of 17:06.

The next stop for the cross country teams is the CSML championships on Thurs Oct 15 at Fountain-Fort Carson high school.
