This is coach Philipsen’s fourth year coaching tennis. He coached Varsity Girls Tennis for two years in St. Edmond, Iowa. His players placed in 3rd and 5th in Iowa State singles in 2012 and 4th and 6th place in singles in 2013. In 2014, Mr. Philipsen coached Boys Varsity Tennis in St. Edmond placing 2nd overall in the state, as well as 2nd and 4th place in doubles. While I Iowa, Philipsen also coached 7th grade boys’ basketball for four years.

“I coach because despite being past my competitive playing days, I am still extremely competitive. Coaching is a great outlet for me to get my competition fix. In addition, it is very rewarding to work with players, no matter how good or bad, and see them improve throughout the season or career. It’s great, positive experience every time.” Said Philipsen.

This year’s Boys Tennis finished 8-2, 2nd place in the D-11 tournament.

Oct. 15th and 16th Philipen heads to state with James Boehlke.
