The Coronado Track team did exceptionally well on Saturday the 12th. Both the boys team and girls team placed 1st overall.

Madison Brown, senior, who placed 1st for the girls 800m run said,
“The track program here is honestly really encouraging. I love to run, but being in track for Coronado made me want to run even during college. The coaches have confidence in the whole team for the season and so do I. There are some amazing athletes working with us this year, and I really think we will not only qualify for state, but we will do very well at state.”

You can still join track if you are interested in being a part of a winning team. The state meet goes from May 19 to May 21, and you just have to be on the team before that point. There is a freshmen and sophomore invitational on April 1 and a Varsity invitational April 2.

Gerrit Ralston, senior, who placed 1st in the boys 1600m run said, “I like winning, and we have a very strong track team that competes very well. I think we’ll definitely make it to state, I personally hope I have a great season. The coaches are awesome, not to say that there’s anything wrong with their coaching, but they improve every year. They find new ways to encourage us, and keep the all of us going.”

At the meet on Saturday several athletes placed first in their events:
Jaydon Lewis: Boys High Jump
Celia Smith: Girls High Jump
Emily Ambuul: Girls 200 meter dash
Gerrit Ralston: Boys 800 meter run

Coronado also took 1st place in multiple events:
Boys 4×200 meter relay
Girls 4×800 meter relay
Girls 4×400 meter relay

Overall the track team did an excellent job representing Coronado last Saturday.
