On Tuesday, 12/14, the boys’ varsity basketball team brought home their second win of the season with a 16 point victory over the Air Academy Kadets behind Ashton Rogers, 11, who scored a full half of the team’s 48 points. The crowd was full of energy and the Cougars put spectacular effort into their game. The night ended with the Cougars up 48-32.

The morale and confidence of the team has been uplifted due to their victory, and their effort continuously improves.

“I think we are in a good place right now. We needed a win, we’ve beaten ourselves so hard for such a long time, that it feels good to be able to take a breath and be proud of our performance for a while. We’re going to take a step back for a little bit and relax, but then at 4 o’clock today we’re going back to work. We’re going to continue focusing on our roles and on our improvements. I have high hopes for the team,” said Coach Thomas

Ashton Rogers, again, led the team, scoring 24 total points on 5 three-pointers and 7 free-throws.  He also tallied 3 offensive rebounds, 6 defensive rebounds, and a block.

“It’s very exciting, and I’m happy that we had a win at home in front of the student section and everyone. I think we wanted this more, and I think that’s what changed from the last game to this one,” said Rogers.

Jareth Morey, 11, for the second straight game in a row scored 10 total points, with 2 free-throws, 5 blocks, and 9 boards, 4 offensive and 5 defensive rebounds. Senior Joey Callan scored 8 points with 3-5 shooting, and 2 free-throws.

“I think we put forth really good effort, and I’m proud of how we played. The game was fun, and exciting, and it was a good paced game that we worked hard for,” said Morey

The Cougars worked tirelessly during their game, and they have high hopes for the games to come. Come cheer them on at their next game against Vista Ridge on 12/20.
