World Series Champs back to Normal

World Series Champs back to Normal

The Chicago Cubs, fresh off of their first World Series championship in 108 years, opened up the 2017 season in absolute last place in the NL Central, even behind the Pittsburgh Pirates after opening day.  With a 4-3 loss to longtime rival, the St. Louis Cardinals, the Cubs brought fans back to the despair that has defined their existence for over a century.

“We just expect to fall apart, to lose,” said life-long fan Grant Stoughton.  “I don’t know how to root for the Cubbies except to hope better things happen next year.  Maybe 2018 will be our year.”

Known throughout the sports world as lovable losers, the Cubs broke their own stereotype last season, but no one really thinks they can keep it going, especially after such an abysmal start to the 2017 season.
