Zoe Gross, 10, is almost as colorful as her personality at the first annual(?) Color Dance.

On August 25, the first day of school, from 7 to 10 pm was our back-to-school Color Dance brought to us by our student council. Students were instructed to wear a white shirt where they could have colored powder thrown onto them.

Morgan Darnell, a member of the student council, who organized the dance along with others says, “ we wanted to unite the school, so we can all feel a part of Coronado.”

Darnell says that the dance was a tremendous success, stating that “we had a good turnout; we actually ran out of colored powder.”

An attendant of the dance, Savannah Elie, grade 10, said that it was initially awkward, saying that “ we all kind of just stared around,” but after a while “We had a great time. We put color powder in each other’s hair, and I didn’t care how my hair looked.”

Although the color powder did run out, Elie says that “there was plenty to go around” and “that didn’t keep us from having fun.”

The Student Council achieved it end goal of having united Coronado. Students were able to loosen up in way they usually couldn’t on a day that is associated with a great deal of dread. Hopefully, this dance will be a precursor to an equally wonderful school year.
