Just on 9/19, the men’s varsity soccer suffered a close loss in their game to the Widefield Gladiators. Despite a hard fight, the game ended with a 0-1 score. Despite them losing the game, they gave it their all with Weston Rubio (11) getting player of the game. According to Coach Hurt, ‘Weston Rubio did a great job in the middle building up the Cougars attack while also shutting down Widefield’s attack through the middle.’ Rubio also almost scored a goal with a point-blank header, a close-range head-shot, off the corner which was unfortunately stopped.

Despite losing against the Gladiators earlier in the week, the Cougars got their comeback on the 23rd when they won their home game against the Pueblo East Eagles, 3-1. And it wasn’t just a good game for the team, it was a good game for Hayden Field (11). Field scored his first hat trick, meaning he scored three uninterrupted, consecutive goals, leading the Cougars to victory.

Even with a rough start, the team managed to make it a great week!
