Men’s Varsity Football, Week 9/18

Ivy Ross, Staff Writer

Coronado’s Men’s Varsity football team played Pueblo South in an away game at Dutch Clark Stadium last Friday. Unfortunately, the Cougars lost with a final score of 7-49. Cougar Defensive Coordinator, Mr. Edmund elaborated on the game, our seven points came from a completed long pass “late in the second quarter to Justin Dwinell that put us on the five yard line [then] Troy Renner carried the ball in for the score on the next play.” He continued that “[the team] made too many mistakes both defensively, offensively and on special teams” as well as the team’s tackling is in need of some improvement. The Cougars have some room to get better moving forward, which the coaches plan to address by “executing their plays more effectively,” said Mr. Edmund. Overall the season is going pretty well with two wins and two losses, we are almost halfway through the season with seven games to go, make sure to show support!

On the 29th of September, the team will return to Dutch Clark Stadium to compete against Pueblo East, so make the trip to go support and cheer on the team!
