Great food, better music. That’s basically how one could describe Coronado Band’s Carrabba’s Night Fundraiser. At 5:30 P.M. on 10/11, tons of people packed into the cafeteria to watch Coronado’s bands play and eat delicious food from Carrabba’s.

Before you even entered the door you could smell the savory flavors of Italian food. It looked and smelled so good that many members of the band said it made their mouths water. By the looks of it, everyone in the audience was right there with them. The scent of amazing food wasn’t the only thing in the air at the event; Coronado’s bands gave it their all with a multitude of amazing performances, not to mention that event-goers in the crowd had a blast as well. With a very “friends and family” relaxed environment, everyone was able to eat and talk and have a great time in general.

The night kicked off with the Wind Ensemble. And as expected by the name, they blew the roof off of the place with several amazing songs including “Winter Milky Way, LaLa Land, and Rogue One- A Star Wars Story.” Next in the lineup was Symphonic Band with performances of “The Best of the Journey, Rocky on Broadway, and Silverbrook,” while Wind Ensemble set the bar high, Symphonic lived up to everyone’s expectations.

One of the highlights of the night was seeing Jazz Bands 1 and 2 play. Once Jazz Band 1 started to play, lots of conversations halted and everyone still eating paused to watch and record. The same can be said for when Jazz Band 2 picked up for them with songs “Ain’t Misbehavin, Aftershock, Fourth Second Street, and Paquito’s Revenge” continuing the streak of amazing performances.

“I think I could have done a lot better on my [trumpet] solo, but overall as a band, I think everyone did really well and I had a great time,” Ryan Mills, 9, a member of the Jazz Band said. When the night ended, everyone left with full stomachs and several exceptional performances ringing in their ears. If you weren’t able to make it to the concert last night, be sure to try and catch the next one. They’re definitely worth it!
