WINt-her Over With These Holiday Date Ideas
December 1, 2017
All the leaves have fallen off the trees and the weather’s getting colder, to fill your time consider the following activities.
Baking
Very few people dislike baked goods, so make some treats for your friends, family, and yourself. Some suggestions of delicious treats include cookies, cakes, brownies, cupcakes, and cinnamon rolls. There’s nothing cuter than baking so this is a great way for you and your boo to light up Instagram too.
Hockey Game
The sport is a bunch of grown men on very thin blades skating around on ice, while slamming each other, so there’s nothing not to love. You can find tickets for pretty cheap for the Colorado College games that are played at the World Arena, and the cold is a great excuse to cozy up a little closer.
Ice Skating
A lot like hokey, just less intentionally running into other people and more unintentionally running into the ground. The first step is to pray you don’t break something, next is trying to figure out how to find your balance on two thin blades of medal, after that it’s just like roller skating, so channel your inner child while using this great excuse to hold hands and be a hero as you help your date after they fall.
Sledding
This activity includes throwing yourself down a snow covered hill on a thin piece of plastic and hoping for the best, but don’t be sled to the wrong conclusion, it is a lot of fun and if you fall of your plastic, snow is soft; much like your date’s heart after sledding shows off just how fun you can be.
Skiing
Go out with your significant other all day by taking to the slopes, skiing (or snowboarding) is an extreme version of sledding. There are over a dozen ski resorts in Colorado, and they are often near quaint towns, so be sure to check those out too. Even though it tends to be an expensive, all day affair, that just makes it a better chance for you to show off your generosity and commitment.
Coffee Date (year round but always a good option)
If you are not a fan of the cold a coffee date is perfect, you get to sit inside, sip something hot, and chat for a few hours. Even though it is a classic and a bit cliched, coffee is a safe bet which is sure to give you and your other a chance to connect on a deeper level.
Build a Fort
To get the full experience of fort building, one must first decide if it will be done indoors or outdoors. When building a fort inside use blankets, chairs and pillows. When building outside a snow fort is the way to go, through an inside fort is probably more comfortable and will lead to better cuddling and hanging out.
Make a Gingerbread House
You can buy a kit that comes with a bunch of candy and hard bread or bake your own bread. Both are great options and will bring you closer to your significant other as you go through the challenges of construction while building your relationship.
Paint Snow
Let your artistic side show by putting water in spray bottles and then mixing in food coloring. The only other thing you need is a fresh patch of snow.
Look at Christmas Lights
This delightful activity includes driving around Colorado Springs on icy roads in the dark, while also distracted by the lights people put on their houses. It is a really delightful experience, make sure to check out the houses that have programmed their lights to music.
Make Christmas Ornaments
Don’t have enough ornaments for your tree this year? No problem! Have a crafty date by making ornaments together. If you construct them well you can even save them in case your relationship lasts a whole year and continue the tradition of adorning your trees with your history.
Walk Around the Broadmoor
Each year, the Broadmoor puts up a landmark display during the holiday season, it closely resembles a winter wonderland and is definitely worth checking out. From incredible light displays to magnificent gingerbread houses to elegant trees, the Broadmoor goes all out for christmas, and will certainly be a magical night for you and your significant other.
