That’s a wrap! Rolling in an amazing haul, Pay it Forward’s 2017-2018 Toy Drive officially came to a close on December 8th. Just because the collecting stopped, though, doesn’t mean the work is done. December 8th, 11th, and 12th, many students volunteered to help wrap the many presents being donated to children around the area. This year, the toys are being gifted to students from West, Halbert, Madison, and a girl scout troop. “My favorite part of the Toy Drive is knowing that these students are getting gifts this year,” Mrs. Luttman commented.

With eight years behind it, the Toy Drive has certainly expanded to cover different things. When Mrs. Luttman first started the Drive, they started out with stockings. Each stocking contained generic ‘stocking stuffers’ that were handed out to the students. To make them more special, a member of Pay it Forward had the idea of asking the schools if they needed help. Students were able to fill out a wish list of what they wanted and Pay it Forward matched the toys donated to the students who asked.

To ensure that as many children as possible got something they wanted, students from Coronado were also able to pull a wish list out of a gift bag in the library to donate toys specifically to one person. So if you weren’t able to donate a gift this Christmas, there’s always next year!
