Students observe the Super Blue Blood Moon on January 31st

Among clubs, Coronado’s rising star is for stargazing. Mrs. Escobar, astronomy teacher, is holding weekly meetings for the school’s new astronomy club.

Initially for students currently taking an astronomy credit, the club is attended by any students, parents, and faculty interested to better understand exactly what we see every night. On club nights, students present are given tours of the night sky with powerful telescopes focused on the Moon, the constellations, and other planets. Food concessions of one dollar are available. On January 31st, several students and staff attended the viewing party in the staff parking lot to see the Super Blue Blood Moon.

The club meets every Thursday after school from 3 P.M. to 5 P.M. or to 6 P.M. in Mrs. Escobar’s room 107/109 and in the staff parking lot to discuss and plan the monthly stargazing parties. Because of the weather-dependent nature of the parties, exact dates cannot be set, but they will be announced on the morning announcements.Sta
