Girl’s golf ended the season with a hole-in-one as they placed fifth at the state competition. Each girl’s outstanding performance brought Coronado home the trophy this season, as well as Coronado’s best athletic performance and turnout this year. Annika Hagen (11), a member of the girl’s golf team, and Ms. Hodge, the coach, both shared what made this season so great.

Annika said that, “it was a really good season for the team and it was probably the best since [she’s] ever been here and for the three years [Annika] has played golf.” Although it is considered an individual sport, the team came together to support one another as Anika mentioned that it was “just an all around good team,” referring to their abilities. Claiming this to be her best season yet, Anika said that she, “definitely made lots of improvement and [she] got her lowest score at regionals and that [it] was exciting.” Anika thoroughly enjoys playing golf because, “it’s an escape from everything and it just clears your head.” With the incredible victory, Anika and the rest of the team are excited for the years to come.

The team’s coach, Ms Hodge, says that, “[Her] girls were ranked first, third, and then tenth and twelth in the area. So, [the team] had a great season” Hodge was incredibly proud of her girls and, “they were so excited to be the first girls golf team here to go to state.” Hodge enjoys her coaching position and has worked well with the team to ensure improvement of all players. Be sure to congratulate the team on their great victory and good luck to the upcoming seasons.
