The Lady Cougars had a tough loss to swallow after forcing Castle View into five sets. They took an early lead by winning the first set 25-22. Castle view won the second set 17-25, but Coronado would not be denied as they rallied to win the third set, 25-22, and take the lead. Being forced to go to the fifth and final set, they couldn’t quite hold onto the win, losing 9-15 in a heartbreaking loss. Team captain Kailey Stanley, 12, had a couple things to say about the loss. “I feel that we played good overall, we just had times where we would lose points that were crucial to us.” Even though they didn’t win, she is very optimistic about this season. “I am proud of what we accomplished yesterday, but not content with anything yet. We still have things to improve on that will allow us to succeed in our games in the future. I am excited for what is to come.” The Cougars will play at Mountain Vista on 9/7 for their next game, looking to win against the 1-1 Golden Eagles.
