Air Academy was looking to come into our home court and take a win over our Lady Cougars. Air Academy was 17-0 coming into the game with the Cougars, an impressive undefeated record. The Lady Cougars came into this game with a 500 record, being 9-9.

There were some less than impressive shooting performances from our Cougars, seeing performances like senior Marisol Estrada’s, shooting 2-11 (18%) on the night with 7 points contributed. She was, however, the high scorer in the game for the Cougars. Other contributors included sophomore Hope Earls’ 4 points to the cause, and Mady Leahy, 11, who put in 5 points. From the three, the Lady Cougars were less than efficient, going 5- 21(24%).

Overall, the Lady Cougars had a tough time getting their offense going, and had a tough time stopping the undefeated Air Academy’s offensive attack. The Cougars would have needed to get more efficient looks from three as well as at the rim in order to win, but the final score of this one came out to be 49-34 Kadets.

This win for Air Academy keeps their impressive undefeated streak going, the streak at 18 games right now, their record at 18-0. This game could have put our Cougars above 500, but instead they fall to 9-10 on the year. As a program, the varsity teams combined shot 10-46 from three, which is 22%.

The Cougars will need to get better looks, both from behind the arc and in close as they have failed to be efficient these past couple of games. It is time for these Cougars to stay optimistic and continue to get better each practice and each game they play. Your Lady Cougars will take on Liberty at Liberty on February the 5th, and we hope to see you there.
