Get Wise About Exercise!

It definitely can be enjoyable to lounge around in bed all day texting friends and watching Netflix during this quarantine, and school can be done from the comfort of the couch during this crazy time. That being said, it is important to stay active because health comes first. Mental and physical health are important even in difficult times, but it can be hard to figure out how to keep it up to par. Luckily, there are some easy and enjoyable ways to make staying healthy entertaining.

Physical activity is difficult for some people to fit into their schedules, and if it is not enticing people just cannot seem to find the time. There are some options out there for everyone that are quick and give even the busiest people the physical activity they need each day. Here are some of those options:

1. Look up an at home workout online. There are videos and plenty of other resources available to use, and there is something for everyone. Just search for the specific desired workout on any device and any search engine; the intensity, the areas impacted on the body, the time, and so many other attributes are up to the person exercising that way. This can be a simple way of making a workout ideal and enjoyable.
2. Take a walk around the block and get some fresh air. There may not be any fancy places to hike or trails to explore right now, but there are plenty of streets to roam close to home. Just put in some earbuds and enjoy the more industrial, human influenced, and modern side of nature.
3. Get up and dance! There are Instagram dance parties everywhere to participate in and dances to learn using YouTube. Skype some friends, turn on some music, and have a quarantine dance party to remember!

Physical activity should be a priority no matter what the circumstances, and mental activity should be too. E-learning takes care of a large amount of that to a point where mental stimulation aside from that seems unnecessary. There are different parts of the brain, and school can only keep a few of them active. If this sounds like a burden and a boring idea, then maybe consider some of the more entertaining ways to do it:

1. Search up and try out some online brain games. Even Cool Math For Kids is an option if that sounds exciting. A really fun one that involves a little competition is Purpose Games. Create a free account and play some of their random games, compete with others, and participate in tournaments. Players can even create their own games if they want, and there are even games to help study for tests students may have. Online games are definitely a fun way to learn something new and work the brain!
2. Do some art focused activities throughout the week. Listen to some music, practice an instrument because all instrumentalists could use some practice and do not get nearly enough, or follow some drawing tutorials. Art is about expression and freedom, so there are plenty of enjoyable ways to make it cool and personal. It is a way to work even more parts of the brain that may not get much exercise.
3. Try something new or find a new hobby. Learning a new skill requires extra focus and brain power, so find something of interest to explore! Quarantine might be a bummer at times, but now is a fantastic time to try something that there has not been time to try. There are plenty of resources to help people explore their new and fascinating hobbies out there, so search away!

It is immensely crucial that everyone stay healthy and active during this uncertain time. Getting exercise, both mental and physical, might just make quarantine a little more bearable. Keep helping to flatten the COVID-19 curve, and stay healthy and safe!
