Twenty One Pilots: Blurryface Tour

On the evening of Sunday, Sept. 27, indie pop group Twenty One Pilots came to the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado.  People of all ages from far and wide made their way to the concert venue, lining up through the parking lot and up the ramp to the front entrance. The massive, 9,450 seat amphitheater filled to the brim, and by the time the opening act started, the arena, restaurant, general admission sections, and reserved seating were chock full.

The night started out with San Franciscan band, Finish Ticket. They performed a small set of four songs, interacting with the audience and getting the crowd riled up for what was to come. Following them, Echosmith, hailing from Chino, California, played a slightly larger set. They finished off with “Cool Kids,” as the sun went down and the moon rose, eclipsing slowly as the energy increased.

Then, the headlining duo, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun, appeared on stage and performed one of their most famous songs, “heavydirtysoul.” The crowd went wild, jumping and dancing to the heavy beat. The lyrics to “Stressed Out,” ”We Don’t Believe What’s On TV” and “The Judge” were sung loudly into the night, along with some favorites from their previous album, Vessel, such as “Guns for Hands,” “House of Gold” and “Migraine.” Half-way through, lead singer, Tyler Joseph, expressed his gratitude to the audience for making it possible for them to be there and how it was a dream of theirs to perform at the famous Red Rocks Amphitheater.

“It was extremely inspiring to see a band with such incredible music and that they knew how to perform to an audience that well,” said Kamryn Spann, 10.

Throughout the night, it was clear that everyone was happy to be there. As Joseph said, “If the world was to end tonight, I would be okay with that,” and so would many of the audience.
