The Coronado Student Council has announced the 2026-27 student government elections, which are taking place on March 22-23, 2026. For those looking to be involved and take a step into a leadership role at Coronado, mark your calendars.
A cabinet position requires experience, so cabinet roles are reserved for students who are currently in the class; however, there is still an opportunity for those who are not currently enrolled in student council and want to get involved. Students are encouraged to sign up for the class for the 2026-27 school year so that they can be eligible to run for a cabinet seat the following year.
Being a part of the cabinet is about more than just organizing dances and spirit weeks; it is a district-wide connection. Vice President Allie Micci says that “you get to help out many other schools in your District.” Her personal favorite has been helping elementary schools. Being on the cabinet can be fun and looks good on a college application, but it can also be a significant responsibility. Cabinet members are the representatives of Coronado, and are being held to high expectations.
Publicity Representative Alexi Arnell shares that “sometimes the work can be heavy, but in the end it is very rewarding.”
The campaigning part can be one of the most daunting things about running for a cabinet position. Candidates should

prepare for a lot of poster making, interviews, and any other campaigning that feels necessary for the position for which they are applying. Vice President Allie Micci says, “Don’t be nervous about elections, have fun with it. And even if you don’t win, you can still be in the class.”
The student council encourages everyone to find a way to get involved, whether by running for office or just voting. Sign-ups for student elections will be available through your homeroom course and Schoology. Dates are still to be determined. So, cougars, if you are looking for a way to be more involved and be a leader in our school, student council might be the place for you.
