Coronado High School will hold its annual prom on May 2 at Switchbacks Stadium in downtown Colorado Springs. The theme is masqueRAVE, a twist on masquerade balls. All juniors and seniors were given a mask to bring to the dance, offering students a unique accessory for one of the year’s most anticipated and talked-about events.
The prom is scheduled to run from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., giving students three hours to dance, eat, socialize and celebrate the end of the year with classmates in a setting where many students have watched soccer games and large artists perform. Student council selected the stadium to provide a memorable experience. Isabella Webb, Class of 2027 and student council cabinet member,

explained that “The venue will open to students, to have room to dance, eat, and hang out! Unfortunately, we won’t have field access.” Although that would be fun, save the field for the professionals!
Tickets for the event will cost $50 per student, which is cheaper than past years! Nationally, tickets often range from $30 to $100 depending on venue, food, music, and other forms of entertainment. The ticket cost helps student council cover expenses spent on hosting this advent!
Coronado’s choice of Switchbacks Stadium reflects a growing trend among schools to host proms at larger or more distinctive venues, such as museums, hotels, or outdoor spaces, to enhance the overall experience. The downtown location also provides scenic views of Colorado Springs, Pikes Peak, and other downtown views, with plenty of lodging and food close by!
Students attending the prom are expected to follow school guidelines such as behavior and attendance limitations for the weeks leading up to the dance. See you there cougars!
