Released on November 13th, 2015, “Made in the A.M.” the newest album by widely popular band One Direction was high on the charts the minute it came out. Fans had long awaited the album, after Four had been released the year before. The album was named after what the band saw as some of their best times, or the 5 in the morning talking and laughter that they shared in their time together. Singles released earlier that year had done well with fans and on the charts as well, and the release of the new album was a big event. Knowing that the band would be taking a break the next year to pursue other things, the album was even more special.

“Drag Me Down” was the first single released on July 31st, followed by “Infinity” on September 22nd, and “Perfect” on October 16th. All three singles offered a different side of One Direction’s new sound, and got great response among fans. “Drag Me Down”, track two on the album, became a song heard all over the radio, with it’s catchy chorus it was easy to sing along to and quickly became a favorite. “Perfect”, track three and “Infinity”, track four showed a softer, more somber side of the band, touching on the subject of love and the problems that come with it. The album itself showed a diverse range of emotion and style, with songs that were peppy and upbeat like fans may be used to but also showcasing slower more solemn songs.

The album hit number two in the US Billboard charts and number one on the UK charts, making it their fourth album to hit number one. Overall, One Direction has displayed a new sound that has wowed fans and critics, and showed how diverse the band can be. With the hiatus starting next year, fans are eager to see what the boys can do as solo artists. The band has made it clear though that they are not breaking up, but like any artist after four world tours and five albums, are taking a well deserved break to pursue other interests. Unfortunately, because of this, there will be no tour for their fifth album and there is only one confirmed concert with tickets left as of now, on December 4th in Los Angeles, California at the Staples Center.
