Seeds Community Café

Riley Burgess, Staff Writer

Seeds Community Café is a non-profit organization that offers many helpful ways to provide food, education and job training to the community. Seeds staff is completely built off of volunteers and all of their budget is based on donations and people who buy their food from the café, their catering system or the Seeds Community Garden where locally grown fruits and vegetables are harvested for the kitchen.

What’s special about dining at Seeds Café is that the customer chooses the price of their meal and if you are unable to pay you can trade volunteer time for a free meal. All of the food also has a gluten free option and many vegan choices. The meat is completely local and organic and their fruits and vegetables come from their community garden.

Seeds recently started a training program and cooking classes. Last year they put seventeen people back to work with living wage jobs and taught 153 families how to create great, healthy meals.

If you’re interested in volunteering or donating go to www.seedscommunitycafe.org . They are located at 109 E. Pikes Peak and they are open Monday thru Friday 10 AM to 2:30 PM.
