On Dec 15, Warner Bros released the first trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Where can one find fantastic beasts? Not in the trailer, that’s for sure. Although Harry Potter nerds everywhere are very excited for the movie, there is a general consensus that the trailer was lacking in actual clips from the movie. Out of the nearly three minutes in the trailer, there are only four or five times that clips from the movie are shown.

Despite the annoyance at the trailer, fans are overjoyed at the new story set in the world of Harry Potter.

“I’m glad that they are coming out with this new movie because for those of us who grew up with Harry Potter, it is going to be a continuation of our childhood,” said Sierra Meisner, 9.

Of what can be gathered out of the few clips in the trailer, viewers can tell that the story is of Newt Scamander, a magizoologist in New York City during the 1920’s. Magical creatures have escaped in the city and are now roaming around alongside the muggles. Many speculations have been found about who has released the beasts in the city; including wondering if Newt Scamander released them by accident, or a villain has done it for some malicious reason.

The movie isn’t set to come out until November of 2016, but fans of the series are still eager to learn more about the plot, characters, and the beasts.

“I think it’s cool that it’s set in the 1920’s. I’m excited to see how it ties into the Harry Potter series,” said Garrett Cichello, 9.

Mr. Stoughton, English teacher and perhaps the world’s most knowledgeable Harry Potter expert, is excited for the release of the new movie, as well as the Broadway play set to release soon, but is similarly disappointed about the movie’s trailer, “what we know about the new movie is that the opening credits will be artfully done, assuming they follow the trailer’s leadership.  We know nothing about the movie…but that still won’t stop me from being excited.”

Whether outraged at the trailer or overcome with joy of the continuation of the originals, fans from all around the world are eagerly awaiting Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
